The Altar Collective

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The Altar Collective is a literary collective based in Los Angeles, CA. We publish a book featuring work from 10-20 international writers. Following publication, we hold an event in Los Angeles County where local accepted writers perform their published work alongside performances and displays from featured musicians and artists.

All Altar Collective titles can be found at Gatsby Books in Long Beach, CA and at Skylight Books in Los Angeles, CA.

All work must be in Times New Roman, size 12. How you space your work is up to you. We would like you to keep your work single-spaced, however we encourage creative line spacing.

Your work must have a title and, if you are submitting multiple pieces, PLEASE submit them separately.

Submissions are read blindly, therefore your name should not be present in your work at all.

If the work you are submitting has been accepted by another publication, then we will not be able to accept it. If you are doing simultaneous submissions, it is your responsibility to inform us of any acceptances before our submission process is over. By submitting your work, you understand and allow The Altar Collective to read and potentially publish your piece (author retains all rights to their work).

Unfortunately, we are not compensating our accepted writers at this time. You should hear back from us two weeks after the deadline. Feel free to email us at if you have any inquiries.
